There has been an increase in scan attempts targeting specifically Arkansas via text and email, falsely claiming to be from the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA). Some of the messages they have seen state that a tax refund request has been approved and then directs recipients to click a link and provide bank account information.
❌ These messages are not from the DFA or any government agency.
🏢 No government agency will ask for banking information via text or email for refunds.
📵 If received via text, use the report junk option, if it's via email, just delete the message immediately.
👨🏼💻 These types of scams can be reported to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. https://www.ic3.gov/
For more information, contact the Arkansas Attorney General's Office at (501) 682-2007 or email oag@arkansasag.gov.
